Op shop cash for CFA

Berwick Opportunity Shop representatives present the Berwick Fire Brigade with a cheque.

Donations from the Berwick Opportunity Shop to its local CFA just keep coming, with the business this time handing over a cheque for a “significant” amount of cash.
Since 1989, the op shop has regularly donated to the Berwick Fire Brigade to assist it to purchase vehicles and equipment for its emergency work in the community.
This includes the purchase of a dedicated Emergency Medical Response vehicle which responds with Ambulance Victoria to Priority Zero emergencies, mainly cardiac arrests.
Funds have also been used to purchase and equip a Forward Command Vehicle which provides crew transport and a management hub for larger incidents, as well as numerous pieces of specialist equipment for the complex roles undertaken by the brigade.
While it is not yet decided what the latest cash will go to, Berwick Fire Brigade captain Craig Sanderson said it would be put to good use.
“The Berwick Fire Brigade is very appreciative of the ongoing generous support provided by the Berwick Opportunity Shop which allows us to provide an excellent level of emergency protection for the area,” Mr Sanderson said.
The cheque was presented to the brigade at a recent training night.
