The Rotary Club of Pakenham’s changeover night saw a new president inducted and several honours awarded to long-serving members.
The evening began with one minute of silence to mark the passing of former Casey councillor and fellow Rotarian Mick Morland.
An unprecedented number of Paul Harris Fellows were awarded throughout the evening.
Kamya Foster was the first of the night to be named a Paul Harris Fellow for her many years of service.
Ms Foster currently serves as Casey Cardinia Foundation Accounts Officer, Co-director of Pakenham Baptist Church Holiday Club program, honorary auditor of PB Ronald Trust and accounting support to Rotary Club of Pakenham.
She was also a member of the Rotary Club of Pakenham from 1996-2005, International Committee Chair 1998-99 and 1999-2000, Weekly Bulletin Editor 2000-2001 and Club Secretary 2003-2004.
Henry van Diemen was also named a Paul Harris Fellow while George Blenkhorn received the Paul Harris Sapphire Pin and Peter Van Diemen was awarded the Paul Harris Second Sapphire Pin, acknowledging their excellent service to Rotary and the community.
Immediate Past President Lyn Bunce officially handed over the reins to President 2017-2018 Gregory Peck, who described himself as “humbled” to undertake the position.
“We are a part of Rotary to help people and make the world a better place,” Mr Peck said.
He said he believe his role was to keep the good things that make up Pakenham Rotary going and moving forward.
Members, their families and their guest enjoyed a three-course dinner and entertainment from a magician.
The occasion also called for special mention of the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation.
