A local school holiday program has given students the opportunity to ‘soar’ ahead in their studies.
Chairo Christian School has been hosting its SOAR Holiday Adventures program twice annually since 2014.
The program, held in the first and third term breaks, sees students from Melbourne Christian schools with “high academic potential” participate in a series of workshops designed to challenge and inspire creativity.
The most recent workshops held on 5 and 6 April saw an estimated 100 students tackle rocket building, learn the intricacies of the human eye and participate in a Periodic Table soap opera, among others.
Program organiser Jane Ward said activities were similar to what would be in a school classroom, but not on the daily curriculum.
“With a small teacher-studio ratio, our program allows students to better engage with the activities with the support of staff,” Ms Ward said.
