Marsham marshals resources

Injured playmaker Jackson Dalton, centre, still played an active role with the Cora Lynn forwards on Saturday night – watching the game from the bench and passing on his thoughts to the group. THERE’S a distinctly different feel at Cora Lynn this season. There seems to be a real resolve; a steely focus to go a step better than the past three years.
And leading the charge is new coach Travis Marsham. He has already brought with him a ruthless competitiveness and a knowledge that a truly successful team is only as good as the sum of its parts.
It’s one in, all in and deep in the bowels of the Cobras’ change rooms on Saturday night against Bunyip, the senior players stood as one. Surrounding them was a refurbished inner sanctum – one that preached professionalism, yet discipline. Marsham stood front-and-centre, staring daggers through new ruckman David Main. Then the shouting started.
The new coach would later admit that some players wouldn’t have stood up to the pressure of being publicly challenged in front of the group. But he knows his men and how to get the best out of them.
Marsham and Main had a highly-successful recent relationship at Gembrook Cockatoo in the YVMDFL and this year they’ve linked up again in Cobras colours. So far, so good as Cora Lynn ran rampant against last year’s grand finalists – coming away with a huge win 19.18 (132) to 5.8 (38).
