Ellinbank and District Football League – West
Round 2 Preview

KOOWEERUP v CORA LYNN
The Demons will make their long-awaited season debut this Saturday in a blockbuster against fellow premiership aspirant Cora Lynn.
Most of the pre-season talk has surrounded these two sides, which both seem to have made the concerted effort to contend and contend now.
The Cobras were machine-like in their huge Round 1 win over the Bulldogs. Their forward line – led by livewire duo Anthony Giuliano and Ryan Gillis – looked dangerous on every entry inside 50, while the new ruck combination of Brad Horaczko and David Main is set to pose serious questions to all six of the West’s other sides.
But Kooweerup can’t be discounted by any stretch. They’ve brought back the bulk of last year’s side, which enters 2014 a vastly fitter group. By all reports, Luke Walker has been tearing up the training track in recent weeks, while the Demons star additions of Matt Grant (Poowong) and Paul Gramc (Pakenham) will make a big impression straight off the bat.
With so little separating these two sides, Kooweerup’s first round bye might prove all the difference. While the Demons will enter the contest fresher, the Cobras have blown off the cobwebs with a thumping win. Cora Lynn by 10 points.
