IT MAY be lower, longer and wider… but Bunyip’s BMX track is good to go.
After months of discussions over the size of the Wattle Tree Road facility, the Cardinia Shire Council has endorsed amended plans for the track, with works expected to start in coming weeks.
Cardinia councillor Bill Pearson said he was pleased that both the council and community could work together to come up with a solution to suit all parties – those for and against the track.
“The council heard from both the supporters and objectors of the project as well as listening to young people in the area,” Cr Pearson said.
“Works should commence in the next few weeks.”
He said the track would be wider, lower and longer to make it easier for kids to race.
“It will be something the kids really want.”
Cr Pearson also tabled a petition started by Bunyip Primary School student Brad Trottman.
The petition was signed by 60 of Brad’s classmates.
