John’s shocking new shave

By Bridget Cook
JOHN Van Dord says there are basically three hairstyles for men – parted, not parted or in his case, departed.
The Kooweerup resident named his new look after he lost his locks last week as part of the World’s Greatest Shave.
Cardinia Transit depot manager Cameron Nicholls did the honour of shaving Johns head in front of his work colleagues.
John said while it was a bit of a shock at first, he had become accustomed to his new look.
“I actually don’t mind it … but my wife’s not so keen on it,” he said.
“I wake up in the morning and think ‘how will I have my hair today’ – the same as yesterday,” he joked.
John has raised about $350 so far and hoped to continue his campaign over the next month.
John decided to take part in the shave after losing two friends to cancer.
“Both of them were inspirational people,” he said. “They both, Dom and Baz, had such an impact on the people they knew – and I wanted to do something.”
While he recognises Leukaemia is ‘totally different to cancer’, John said he wanted to do something to support people searching for a cure.
“I want to thank everyone for really getting behind me,” he said.
