More roads to be made

EMERALD residents in Ferres Road and part of Madigan Way will soon be part of a special charge scheme that will see the construction of pavement, kerb, channel and associated drainage works.
Originally the scheme only included Como Street and Berrys Road, but after landowner support to include the two extra roads, councillors endorsed the move to include them.
Councillor Ed Chatwin said the inclusion of the two roads was first brought up by residents during the original objection period for the project.
“Two residents came up with a method of expanding the scheme,” Cr Chatwin said.
“So it’s up to us to declare the original motion null and void and endorse the new motion that includes Ferres Road and part of Madigan Way.”
His colleague Councillor Collin Ross agreed.
“It’s wonderful that the community can come to council and be listened to,” Cr Ross said.
“Something has been changed because of that.”
