Q and A with Garfield resident Wes Loomes

How long have you lived in Garfield?

We moved to Garfield four years ago and absolutely love this little town and the surrounding area. It has such a great community and feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of suburbia.

Tell us about your family.

My wife Paula and I have been married for 18 years and we have three teenage boys – Tyler 15, Jackson 14 and Evan 12.

What do you do for a living?

I own and operate a property maintenance business, which covers a broad range of services from lawn mowing right through to site cleans, hedge trimming, garden makeovers etc etc.

Describe yourselves in two sentences.

Fun, easygoing, adventurous, loyal and reliable.

What are your interests?

Travel/ permaculture/ crypto trading.

How have you been involved in the community and local sport?

Over the years I have volunteered as an assistant coach for my sons’ basketball

teams and at various events facilitated by our local church community.

Who is your football team?

Carton ‘Go the Blues!’ This is our year.

What are your hobbies and what do you do for relaxation?

Snowboarding, coffee trips, motorbike riding with family (boys only!).

What is your dream holiday destination?

Banff Canada – White Christmas.

How has your life been affected because of Covid-19?

It has helped me focus on the importance of the simple pleasures in life, for example family, good health and reestablishing a good work life balance.
