What do you love most about working with ADRA and giving back to the community?

What I love most about working with ADRA is that I have been able to fulfil my passion for helping people. Since I can remember, I have wanted to help people trying to make a little difference in their life to make them feel better. I am a hairdresser by trade so in a way I do help people, but wanted to in a different way.

What are you currently reading/ watching?

I’m currently reading study material as I am doing a Diploma in Community Services, and watching ‘true story’ movies on Netflix is my favourite.

Are you from Pakenham originally? What do you love most about this community?

I’m originally from Westall, then moved to Hampton Park, then 10 years ago I moved to Pakenham. I do find Pakenham to have a beautiful multicultural community – having met so many people who have all been so lovely.

What is something people don’t know about you?

I have suffered massive anxiety for over 20 years, so I understand sh*t days and good days. I might look like I’m OK, but like many people out there, I am not some days – and that’s OK, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

What is your favourite kind of music and why?

I love Celine Dion. She is my favourite. In my darkest days her music gets me through – and it’s my house work music too!

If you could invite five people to a dinner party (dead or alive), who would you choose and why?

My son, my sister, my nanna, my auntie (all passed away) and my mum who is still here, just to be able to see them, hug them, laugh and joke with them and tell them all about our new world we live in and how we miss them all so much. (This is a sad one)

What would your last meal be?

McDonald’s

At school I…

…was so quiet. I hated school to be honest, I felt there was so much more to life than school and I wanted to go out and work and be a mum and help people back then, mainly the older generation.

And what is your favourite piece of advice you’ve received in life/ favourite motto to live by?

Be nice to people. No one knows what the other person is going through. Just because they are smiling, just because they are talking, standing, doing all the right things, they could be hurting and your kind words could make the world of difference to their day. So be nice and smile – making that difference in someone’s day could make your day better too.
