There was a huge turnout for Berwick’s New York Barbers first-ever Community Day event.

New York Barbers was the place to be on Saturday 12 October to support the Movember Foundation for men’s mental health, as well as White Ribbon Australia.

On the day over $1970 was raised by the community, with the funds being equally split between the two charities.

It was a great day had by all, with $5 from every barber service donated to the charities.

“Our primary goal for the day was to say thank you to the community for the amazing support they have shown us in our first year in our new shop premises and to raise funds for charity,” New York Barbers team member Dion Fallace said.

“There was free face painting and balloon animals which the kids loved, as well as some amazing classic cars and bikes on show.”

American style hot dogs and cheeseburgers, fairy floss and drinks went down a treat, as did the family activities.

A huge raffle, which raised over $700, had $1300 worth of prizes donated by local Berwick businesses.

Following the day’s success, New York Barbers plan on making the Community Day an annual event.
