Around 100 leading women of different faiths and culture from Casey and Cardinia areas gathered at Outlook Community Centre in Pakenham on Saturday to attend the Women Interfaith lunch organised by Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, Victoria-Berwick Chapter.
The theme of the event was ‘Religious Harmony-Pathway to a Peaceful Society’.
“The main aim of the event was to invite women from different faiths and professional backgrounds to promote integration and dialogue,” Women’s Auxiliary Ahmadiyya Muslim Association vice president Khola Usman said.
“We want to bring together women from all religions to share their thoughts in breaking down barriers to increase mutual understanding and knowledge.”
The event started with recitation of Holy Quran Followed by its English translation.
Ms Usman conducted the event by presenting a multimedia presentation about Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
“Women that gathered to show harmony with each other were amazed by the hard work of Ahmadiyya women in terms of Red Cross door knock appeal, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, donations and charities to bushfire victims and aged care centres,” Ms Usman said.
There were six guest speakers from different cultural backgrounds, faiths and professions including research consultant in Department of Justice and regulation Anika Dell, member of Casey Multi-Faith Network Stephanie Saunders, Cardinia Shire Council CEO Carol Jeff, Buddhist documenter and university administrator Diana Cousens, winner for Emerging Leadership in Multiculturalism and Casey Young Citizen of the year 2019 Nancy Loomba and Ahmadiyya Muslim Community member Ayesha Mehwish.
“Speakers spoke very well to promote harmony between each other,” Ms Usman said.
“All women expressed their sincere about thought how they can play their role at their own places in breaking down barriers and promoting mutual understanding between faiths.”
