Over 100 Gembrook Primary School families and friends arrived on Friday evening to the annual outdoor movie night.

It is always a fantastic night and this year was no exception with plenty of fun to be had with food stalls, a jumping castle and live music prior to the movie screening.

The movie night was postponed due to the Bunyip fires. In response, a group of four students got together and hosted a stall which they called ‘Scented Page’ to raise money for animals impacted by the fires.

The students raised over $124 selling homemade slime, play dough, biscuits, necklaces and a series of comic books they wrote and self-published.

Due to challenging weather conditions the movie was moved indoors.

“The weather didn’t dampen the night. Over 150 people snuggled inside the multi-purpose room with bags of free popcorn to watch Smallfoot on the big screen,” event organiser Jacqueline Fuss said.
