Emerging Berwick fashion designer Nicole Westmorland’s creations are popping up all around and her next stop is Bunjil Place Plaza.

Bunjil Place is collaborating with the 2019 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival to bring you ‘Style Swap’, an event aimed at trend-setters to swap treasures from their wardrobes, encourage the sharing community and to make memories with friends.

Most importantly, all participants are asked to think sustainably.

There will also be panel sessions with fashion and style gurus, recycled jewellery workshops and pop-up fashion shows.

Nicole is the proud founder behind Westmorland.

Her love for creation has always been a huge part of her identity and it is one of the things that make her truly happy.

“I’ve been a maker since I can remember. I was always the ‘crafty kid’,” she said.

Glued to the drawing table at kindergarten and forever painting at her easel in primary school, Nicole would create anything she could with whatever she could get her hands on.

An entire new range of clothing will be showcased by Nicole at her Bunjil Place parade.

“This new range really speaks true to my own personal aesthetic,” she said.

“Expect bright colours, contrasting tones with a real fun feel. My aim is to always create bold, individual pieces that people love to wear. You’ll see fun, different pieces that won’t be on other runways this season.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the reaction of the crowds on the day. I love seeing others enjoying my work; it’s a great motivator for me.”

Nicole’s brand ethic is ‘slow fashion’ and ‘sustainability’.

Not following current trends, Nicole finds old pieces of clothing and re-images the entire shape and fit to give it a complete make-over.

“I absolutely love the outdoors and animals. I spend a lot of my time advocating and educating others on issues that affect these things to hopefully make a difference,” Nicole added.

“This runway show really advocates against fast-fashion and educates the public on the current issues fast-fashion is causing.

“I’d like to ask people to attend the event with an open mind on learning more about the fashion industry and sustainability.”

Style Swap will take place at Bunjil Place in Narre Warren on Sunday 10 March from 10am to 3pm.

Nicole’s talent and creations will be showcased at 10.30am and 12.30pm.
