WGCA Premier grand final – Kooweerup versus Pakenham

Welcome to Denhams Road for the opening day’s play between Kooweerup and Pakenham – a rematch of last season’s decider.

The Demons have won the toss and elected to bat with Mark Cooper and Chris O’Hara opening against Chris Savage and Thom Jones.

1:10pm – Mark Cooper run out at the batsman’s end after a drive by Chris O’Hara to the rocket arm of Zac Chaplin. 1/1. Ben Spicer the new batsman.

1:20 – Kooweerup still 1/1 in the face of some straight, full bowling by Savage and Jones.

1:30 – Tom Tyrrell the new bowler at the Denhams Rd end, replacing Jones. O’Hara and Spicer are still at the crease, on 7 and 2 respectively. 1/9

1:40 – Spicer out LBW, hitting across the line against Savage. Kooweerup is now 2/13 off 11 overs with Mitch Cammarano (3) the new batsman.

1:50 – Savage has left the field after tweaking his calf, heading straight into the rooms – replaced on the field by 12th man Dillon Allen. Kooweerup is still 3/13 off 14 overs after Cammarano was spectacularly caught behind by Rob Elston off Tyrrell. Jess Mathers is the new batsman.

2:00 – Mathers is given caught slashing off Dom Paynter’s bowling. There was some conjecture as to whether it was a bump ball or not. Kooweerup is in deep trouble at 4/20 off 16 overs with Chris Bright (6) joining O’Hara.
