Crazy by name, crazy by dance moves.
Len Price, or ‘Crazy’ as he’s known locally, has become an overnight internet sensation with more than 750,000 people so far catching a glimpse of his best Peter Garrett-style dance moves.
But not many people would realise the footage was taken at the Pakenham Bowls Club at a recent trivia night fund-raiser for Crazy’s beloved Kooweerup and District Motorcycle Club.
Crazy is a life-member of the club and former president, and even though he now lives out of the area on his farm at Mount Eccles near Leongatha, he makes it back whenever he can to catch up with mates and help out his club.
At the trivia night, one person from each table had to stand up and give it their best shot at dancing to Midnight Oil.
Crazy stood front and centre of the video, which was first posted on the Kooweerup MCC Facebook page and since shared by Sportsbet, where its number of views exploded.
“We had to get up and dance like Peter Garrett but I think that Peter Garrett has been trying to dance like me for years!” Crazy said.
“Every table had to get someone up and do it, and I’m known for my moves – especially when I’ve had a couple of sherbets!”
Crazy, now 60, would do anything to give his beloved club a shot in the arm and he’s never been one to take himself too seriously.
He said his nickname stems from a combination of his days as a local footballer, his dance moves, and his love of a good time.
And now he can say he’s even more famous than the most recognised Kooweerup MCC product, Daniel Milner – even though he doesn’t say it with a straight face, with Milner a bonafide champion rider.
Crazy said the reaction so far to his dance moves has been incredible.
“It’s overwhelming, really. It’s humbling,” he said.
“It’s just a heap of people having some good fun and it’s gone viral.
“Probably the best thing about it is that it’s made a lot of people laugh, and a lot of people have got a lot of enjoyment out of it.
“Hopefully we can get some more people at the bike club out of this too.
“The bike club is a very good organisation and we’ve got the track half going now.
“There’s plenty of juniors, and it’s a completely voluntary organisation. A lot of people do a lot of work for sometimes very little recognition.”
