The Pakenham Racing Club is calling for Community Grants Funding applications.
The grants are funded by the Pakenham Racing Club to the value of $150,000 and will be distributed each year by way of Major and Minor Community Grants.
Community groups can apply for funding in one of three streams:
* Major Grants (up to $15,000) – reviewed annually. Opens 1 September, closes 10 October.
* Minor Grants (up to $2,000) – reviewed quarterly. Closes 15 October, 15 January, 15 April and 15 July.
* Prize Donation Request (no cash prizes) – reviewed monthly. These are suitable for requests for support to assist with your fundraising efforts. Prizes may consist of dining vouchers or admission tickets to the races.
PRC’s Community Grants Funding supports initiatives that align with Cardinia Shire’s draft Liveability Plan 2017-2029.
The aims are to reduce harm from alcohol, tobacco, drugs and gambling; reduce family violence; reduce financial vulnerability; improve mental health and wellbeing; reduce obesity; improve safety; and improve social cohesion.
Pakenham Racing Club CEO Michael Hodge said the almost tripling of previous community grants contributions will enable the club to support a wider range of initiatives and that he looks forward to seeing a diverse range of applications.
“Over the last three years community grants contributions have been just over $200,000 so to be able to support the community with $150,000 in funding in 2017/18 ensures that a wide range of programs and projects can be supported.
“The club has a very proud tradition of supporting the community and we encourage all past recipients to consider applying for this year’s grants as well as welcoming new applications from across the shire.”
Michael Hodge also encouraged community groups and sporting clubs to contact the club to discuss how Charity Racemeetings can assist their group raise additional funds.
These events have been very successful with groups raising between $8000 and $35,000 at these race meetings.
