A 32-year-old Doveton man has been charged with dumping a truckload of rubbish at Bobs Park, Aura Vale Lake.
According to Emerald police, the man hired a tip truck to dispose of building site refuse, but instead illegally dumped the rubbish instead of paying tip fees.
This proved to be a very expensive decision, police said, not only with fines for littering but also in costs for further truck hire, the arduous clean-up of the site and tip fees.
Police remind residents that the dumping of rubbish is not only illegal, but also an eyesore with huge environmental impacts.
