Cardinia Shire Council is revamping two of its popular playgrounds, but wants to see the community take ownership of the designs.
PB Ronald Reserve and Lakeside Park playgrounds will be replaced with new all-ages play spaces by the end of the year, and ahead of that there will be a community consultation.
The council’s park development co-ordinator Belinda Powell said the shire would like to hear from potential users of the playgrounds about the elements they would like to see included.
“We would like members of the local community to contribute their ideas about the design and equipment included in the playgrounds to ensure it is a space that meets local needs,” Ms Powell said.
“We will be holding play space design days where residents can come along and contribute their ideas and work with us to create their own play space model. We are keen to hear from residents of all ages.”
The PB Ronald Reserve Play Space Design Day will be held on Tuesday 4 July, from noon to 5pm at the Pakenham Library.
There, residents can share ideas about possible design and equipment with council staff.
A similar session will be held on Thursday 13 July, from 10am to 2pm at the Cardinia Cultural Centre to discuss Lakeside Park’s play space.
Those who can’t make the sessions but would still like to provide input can do so online at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay or via hard copy by calling council on 5945 4225.
The survey closes at 5pm, Sunday 16 July 2017 for the PB Ronald Reserve survey and 5pm, Sunday 23 July for the Lakeside Park survey.
Residents can also email their concept plans, along with clear explanations of the elements included, to mail@cardinia.vic.gov.au before the above dates.
