Queen’s Birthday weekend police Operation Regal may not have registered any fatalities, but police say the offence count was too high.
Final figures for the operation, which ran from Friday 9 to Monday 12 June, reveal that Cardinia had the 10th highest number of offences of the 45 police regions in Victoria.
Senior Sergeant Prowd said police carried out 2000 preliminary breath tests over the weekend with nine people caught exceeding the blood alcohol limit.
One hundred and sixty traffic offences were also recorded.
“We are committing our resources heavily to minimise the deterimental impacts on the local community,” Sen Sgt Prowd said.
“We should be seeing less offences causing risk to road users.”
