Police are investigating the theft of a wallet and credit cards in Pakenham on 26 March.
Police report the items were stolen from a car parked at a residential address in the early hours of the morning.
The stolen credit cards were then used multiple times at various locations including supermarkets and retail petrol outlets in Pakenham and Dandenong North.
Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as about 50 years, with stocky build, bald head and a grey moustache.
He also has tattoos on this left forearm and at the time of the incident he was wearing a CFMEU T-shirt.
