Hot on the heels of their recent sell out production of The Wizard of Oz, Cardinia’s own theatre company CPAC will be bringing the Tony nominated 2011 Broadway musical Bonnie and Clyde to Pakenham this August.
The story revolves around two sweethearts who meet and fall in love during the Great Depression.
Director Lee Geraghty said the true story of the infamous couple was retold with new energy and set to an exciting and unexpected score in the musical version.
“Bonnie dreams of being on the silver screen like her idol Clara Bow, and she’ll do just about anything to make that dream come true,” she said.
“Clyde is trying to make a name for himself as a modern day outlaw. When the two meet, their desire for fame and glory leads them on a path of passion, crime, and adventure!”
An information night for those interested in participating in the production will be held at the CPAC rooms on Henry Street in Pakenham on Monday 24 April at 7.30pm.
Ms Geraghty said CPAC engendered a family atmosphere and everyone was welcome to come along and find out more.
“The show requires people of all ages, so if you have ever thought you would like to have a go on stage come along, you won’t be disappointed and you will make some great new friends,” Ms Geraghty said.
Auditions for the production will take place next month on Monday 1 May and Tuesday 2 May.
Aspiring performers will find full character details on the CPAC website www.cardiniaperformingarts.com.
