A $2.76 million revamp of Heatherbrae Recreation Reserve’s pavilion is now complete.
The pavilion was officially opened on 24 March and features female-friendly amenities to promote gender equality on the sporting field.
The upgrade was the second stage of project works at the existing reserve, which was funded through a $2 million State Government Growing Suburbs Fund grant and a $767,000 contribution from Cardinia Shire Council.
Works included construction of multi-purpose pavilion with kitchen, female change rooms and toilets, office and meeting space, car parking, public art and landscaping works to meet the sporting and recreational needs of local athletes.
Eastern Victoria MP Daniel Mulino said Heatherbrae Recreation Reserve was an important local asset and “these upgrades will further support our local football, cricket and netball clubs”.
“We’re proud to support and grow female participation in sport at a grassroots level,” Mr Mulino said.
“Providing these facilities for our female athletes is essential for our growing sporting clubs.’’
