The organiser of a boot camp fundraiser for cuddle cots said she is overwhelmed after $12,000 was reached during the event.
“Everyone’s support has been overwhelming,” Jess Jolliffe said after enough money was collected to buy two cots on Sunday 26 March.
Thanks to community donations, Monash Hospital will receive the first of the two cuddle cots on Thursday 30 March.
A cuddle cot is a cooling system designed to fit within a cot that allows babies who have passed away to remain with their grieving families for longer, rather than being taken away and cooled in a mortuary.
She was inspired to raise the funds after a cuddle cot allowed her and husband Adrian to spend extra time with their daughter Evie who was stillborn at St John of God Berwick Hospital in 2015.
“Everyone’s generosity has been amazing,” Jess said after the event at Beaconsfield Netball Club.
“It’s humbling to see the community get behind this.
“We can’t thank everyone enough.”
