An estimated 1000 movie enthusiasts hit up Sally’s Big Ass Burgers on Saturday for the ultimate Mad Max experience.
The Beaconsfield Upper burger joint hosted a themed fun day, complete with a special menu of movie-inspired burgers and authentic Mad Max cars.
Sally admitted she probably bit off more than she could chew, but the day was a smashing success.
“It was fabulous, really, really good. I’ve had lots of events, and this was right up there with the best,” Sally said.
Likening the day to planning a wedding, Sally said she wasn’t quite sure how it all came together.
But it did- with overwhelming success.
Guests travelled from as far as Queensland for the occasion, and a bachelor and birthday party were celebrated at the event.
“We probably had 1000 people throughout the day; that’s a lot for my little shop,” Sally said.
Highlights from the event include the dog food eating competition which saw 10 “tough nuts” scoff Sally’s own concoction in a bid to win a trip in a Mad Max car, and a guest appearance by a film documentary crew.
Sally and Saturday’s event will feature in the doco, produced by Daniel Peterson, to be released later this year.
“This was just a huge bonus. No-one has ever done a doco on Mad Max before, so it’s a really big deal and great promo for my business,” Sally said.
Sally said she was blown away by the community’s support.
“It was so much fun and everyone loved it. It was really, really sick,” Sally said.
