CARDINIA Waters Village’s Stitch and Giggle group has donated hand-knitted, crocheted and sewn garments to an orphanage for Aboriginal children near Alice Springs.
These include jumpers, hats, booties and rugs.
The group also supplies bonnets, jackets and booties to premature babies in hospitals, and some items are sold at fund-raising stalls in the hospitals.
Knee rugs are often distributed to nursing homes for the elderly to keep them warm throughout the long winter.
The group meets at the club rooms weekly, but most of the work is done from home.
The Stitch and Giggle group had a Christmas luncheon last week to celebrate the successful year behind them and make plans for 2017.
