THE Pakenham-Berwick Gazette Paid Access Pass has been launched on the Gazette’s website pakenham.starcommunity.com.au
The Gazette has had a strong presence online for a number of years but about 18 months ago a digital-first policy was adopted to ensure stories were posted online as soon as possible and that important local breaking stories were available as they happened. As a result the Gazette’s audience has grown and the Gazette is the unrivaled provider of local news across print and digital including traditional online as well as social media.
The Gazette has been providing quality local news for more than 107 years and is one of the country’s most awarded local newspapers, winning the Victorian Country Press best newspaper on multiple occasions and most recently being awarded the Community Newspapers of Australia Award for best community newspaper in Australia. The Gazette’s sports coverage has also been one of the country’s best and again has won multiple awards over many years. The Gazette is also a strong contributor to the local community being involved in numerous local events, charities and community groups.
The Gazette’s print and epaper have always been paid, although recently our readers have been fortunate to be able to read our stories online for free. But quality journalism requires reporters, sub-editors and other staff, which comes at a significant cost, and for the Gazette to continue to provide quality breaking stories, excellent local sports stories, features stories and other news our online product now requires our readers to pay a small monthly or annual fee. This amounts to no more than $1 a week, or 14 cents per day.
If you enjoy our stories and want to continue to have a truly local newspaper with quality local journalism please sign up to the Gazette Access Pass at pakenham.starcommunity.com.au/gazette-access-pass-subscription/
Remember, real locals read the Gazette.
