Safety notice fails to save victim

A MAN under the protection of a family violence safety notice took a “blow to the head” from an alleged assailant in Pakenham.
Police said the 44-year-old victim was “conscious and breathing” when he was taken to Casey Hospital after the incident in Manna Gum Drive, Pakenham, off Army Road, about 11pm on Monday 25 July.
Pakenham Police Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd said a 20-year-old Cranbourne North man injured the victim’s head during the incident which was reported by people nearby when they heard “yelling and screaming”.
Witnesses reported seeing a large number of police and paramedics at the scene.
A man was arrested at the scene and taken to Narre Warren police station for questioning and was later released pending summons.
Sen Sgt Prowd said there was an existing family violence safety notice against the alleged offender.
