POLICE are still trying to track down a gun-wielding man found standing next to a rifled-through car in Upper Beaconsfield.
The victim car owner confronted the man before realising he had a gun – and has helped police piece together an image of his face in a bid to locate him.
About 4.40pm on Saturday 14 May, a witness spotted the man standing at the rear of the targeted car parked on Harppield Road in the Dallas Brooks Park.
The witness notified the owner who approached the man.
As he neared the man, the victim saw the man had a rifle slung over his shoulder.
Police said the man laughed at the victim and then disappeared.
Police were called to the scene, and despite conducting a thorough search for the gun-wielding man, police could not locate him.
It was later discovered the victim’s car had been rifled through.
Cash was reportedly stolen.
The vehicle appeared to be unlocked.
The incident unfolded in the vicinity of Scouts camping in the area at the time.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
