BUNYIP held its first inaugural rodeo on the weekend. The morning on Saturday 30 January dawned with sunshine and the finishing touches were all completed.
Despite the fierce storms the day before, the grounds were in great condition, enabling event goers to enjoy the dust free entertainment with plenty of seating available.
Bunyip welcomed a large crowd of about 3000 people consisting mainly of young families looking forward to some exciting entertainment.
Woodalls Rodeo Promotions put on a wonderful show of non-stop action. Cowboys wrestled with huge horned bulls and incredible bucking broncos.
“Their bravery and skill needs to be seen to be believed,“ said Gina Dowie of Bunyip Rodeo Group.
The ladies and junior Barrell races were very popular with the crowd, and we had a large number of entrants, and a great competition ensued.
Spectators had a wide range of food and drink vendors to choose from, and a great section of kids amusements and the obligatory mechanical bucking bull for both adults and children to pit their skills.
The Bunyip Rodeo Group extend their thanks to all of their sponsors and local volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring the town of Bunyip a successful new major event generating funds due to be distributed back into the local community.
Ms Dowie said the group anticipated a bigger and better Bunyip Rodeo next year, scheduled to take place on 21 January.
