Mega backing for blokes’ lunch

THEY don’t do things by halves at Car Megamart, as the name suggests.
So when the Pakenham-based car retail giant decided to jump on board for the second annual Casey Cardinia Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch next month, it came in big time, joining SJD Homes and Star News Group as patron sponsors.
The inaugural Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch in September last year raised $53,000, which was channeled into prostate cancer research and awareness initiatives.
The event was a nice fit for the company, headed by local businessman Ray Weinzierl.
“It’s a good cause and helps raise awareness about prostate cancer as well,” said Car Megamart spokesperson Karlie Thexton.
“We were more than happy to get on board.”
Car Megamart now has 18 car yards operating out of the South East Business Park site and they are now selling an average of 30 cars a week, priced from as low as $2500.
The first two stages of the development are at 80 per cent occupancy and the yard is set to expand again as stage three is set to roll out soon.
Pakenham Isuzu opened in April and had soon sold more vehicles than any other dealership Australia-wide.
Bookings for this year’s lunch Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch, at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on Friday 31 July, have already numbers for the first year.
Guests will be entertained by comedian Russell Gilbert, former Carlton champion and Dancing With The Stars winner Anthony Koutoufides and former Carlton and Hawthorn premiership coach David Parkin.
Tickets are $110, including food, drinks and a full afternoon of entertainment. To book contact committee chairman Garry Howe on 0407 203 525 or email garry.howe@starnewsgroup .com.au
