IT WAS all about fire trucks, children’s activities and memorabilia when Clyde CFA celebrated its 70th anniversary on the weekend.
More than 140 people attended the event on Railway Road in Clyde, including former members who travelled from Mildura and Portland.
Firefighter Daryl Manks, who has more than 45 years of service with the brigade, said it was great to see so many people share stories and reminisce.
“It was particularly pleasing to see so many of the early members attend,” he said.
“Some of them haven’t seen each other in 30 to 40 years.”
Mr Manks said there were several individuals and community organisations who helped to make the day a success, including the Rotary Club of Cranbourne who did the catering.
Certificates and badges were also presented to members who had at least five years of service, with some receiving life memberships.
Mr Manks said the day was a really great family event.
“The weather was perfect and we had a great turnout – people of all ages,” Mr Manks said. “We were very pleased.”
